About Mark E. Blankenship, MD
Dr. Mark Blankenship is a board certified general and colorectal surgeon. He is one of the first board certified colorectal surgeons in the region. He has served on many committees at Candler Hospital, including as the President of Medical Staff. He is the medical director of the Pelvic Floor Program and the Director for the national accreditation program for rectal tumors at Candler Hospital. He is also trained in the da Vinci Surgical System. Dr. Blankenship earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Blankenship did a general surgery residency at Memorial Health University and completed his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Blankenship is a member of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Interests outside of surgery include competitive powerlifting. He is also a ringside physician with USA boxing. He has been a student of the guitar and bass for more than 40 years.DISCLAIMER
